I have been an active part of the Governing body at Shrivenham for the last 11 years. I started as a parent Governor and saw both my children through primary education before changing to a community Governor. At present I have one child still at FCC with my eldest having just left.
Consequently, I have seen first hand the significance of the strong foundation gained at Shrivenham in supporting pupils as they move on to secondary school and have seen the value added by becoming part of The Academy Trust.
My expertise lies in Safeguarding, Special Educational Needs/learning difficulties and Autism. I have a wealth of experience working across multi-agencies with adults who exhibit challenging behavior and/or experience poor mental health.
My knowledge and experience covers all aspects of school leadership and improvement, Governance, budgets, and staff and pupil recruitment.
I believe passionately that from an early age children need to understand and look after their mental health and that its equally important as maintaining their physical health.
From my experience as a long-standing Governor I am acutely aware of the huge pressures schools are under on a day to day basis to not only educate our children but to equip them with the necessary social/emotional/ life skills. My belief is that schools play an important role in promoting awareness surrounding the pressures they face, particularly those led by a social media society.
I hope my varied experience will be of value in helping the trust continue its successful development.
