Realising potential through partnership

Jan Wiejak: Performance and Standards Chair

Picture 1

I have recently retired from full-time mathematics teaching in a secondary school, although continue to tutor pupils who need extra help on a one-to-one basis. During my teaching career, I was also responsible for the pastoral care of groups of pupils, and for helping out with sporting and outdoor activities, such as DofE expeditions.

Prior to my time in education, I spent 25 years in business, mainly in the IT and Telecoms sector. During this business career, I ran many teams and committees, was a member of various management teams and boards, and had experience of the whole range of organisational functions, including marketing, commercial and contracts, finance, HR, projects & IT.

My wife and I have lived in the Oxfordshire area for the past 30+ years, and seen our two children - daughter (27) and son (20) - grow up there. I spent several years as a Parent Governor for the local primary school which our children attended, during a particularly challenging time in the school’s evolution.

With my recent teaching experience and previous term as a school Governor, I am looking forward to offering my services to the Faringdon Academy of Schools. As a Faringdon resident, I am also keen to contribute to, and become integrated into, the local community.
